This is a new-to-us washed Peruvian coffee from our partners, Red Fox Merchants. Red Fox has been doing incredible work in Peru by building relationships, offering training and technical assistance, management of production projects, and even marketing services to their producer partners.

We're grateful to continue to be a part of Red Fox's work to support their partners at Valle Inca in Cusco, Peru. One thing that makes Valle Inca stand out is their leader Prudencio. He truly cares about making a positive impact in his community in a more tangible way.  He is committed to working further off the grid than anyone else, constantly extending the grid to bring more indigenous smallholders into the fold of better prices. In the Lares Valley, the Yanatile Valley, a lot of these farmers are well past where the road ends. He has to hike in for hours to make these connections.

Those producers’ coffees are now accessing a completely different market, paying at a far higher tier than previously because of this work. Flavor-wise, it’s constantly clear how worth the journey the coffees are.

This is a comforting cup of coffee with notes of milk chocolate, marzipan and an apple sauce fruitiness and sweetness.

This coffee is excellent as drip coffee and we're excited to taste it as espresso!

More about Prudencio:

Prudencio Vargas Saenz is the founder of Valle Inca. He was born on a coffee farm and has lived and breathed coffee all his life. He started Valle Inca to help producers get paid an equitable and sustainable wage for their coffees while lending his expertise to help small farm holders raise their quality consistently. Prudencio started off working with 5 producers and has grown the group to 260+ producers.
