Our decaf coffees are decaffeinated using an organic chemical derived from sugarcane. Molasses made from sugarcane is fermented to create ethanol and then mixed with acetic acid (found in vinegar) to create ethyl acetate. The compound works as a natural solvent, taking away the caffeine without taking away the natural sweetness of this coffee.
The decaf subscription sends out a seasonal rotation of our amazing single-origin decaf coffee. We seriously love our decaf coffees - we're always going for big, full-bodied, chocolatey qualities that work great in any brew method. We have one decaf in our offerings at a time but they rotate seasonally to ensure maximum freshness!
